RESULTS OF FIRST NIGHT IRON CLAD ART COMPETITION
Riverside welding students Zane Ramsden, Mark Adams (wood shop), Max Ramsden, Dominic Davis, Jordan Fuerte and Zach Hepting entered the Iron Clad Art Competition held during the First Night Spokane Festival New Years Eve. Projects had to be no larger than 3' by 3' and constructed of metal, wood or both materials combined.
Winning first place in the "Peoples Choice" category with their "Motorcycle Engine Parts Table" was Zane, Mark and Max. Their table will be on display at the Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) for the next three weeks. They also received a $200 award towards the Riverside SkillsUSA Leadership Chapter. The team was also asked to build another table to be displayed and sold by the Blackwell Gallery in Coeur d'Alene.
Jordan Fuerte created his "Fish" art from scrap metal, tubing and horse shoes. Zach Hepting's "Skeleton Arm and Rock" was built from bolts, nuts and a rock. Dominic Davis' entry was a "Knight's Helmet" made from sheet metal.
Dominic and Zach each won a $400 welding helmet in a raffle.
An amazing fact to these students' accomplishments was that they started their projects two weeks before their winter break.
Great job Riverside students!
