Run the Ram Shack and learn how to operate a business. Students will learn the principles of business and marketing using real-world examples, learning what it takes to plan and launch a product or service in today’s fast-paced business environment. Units will include costs and profit, management of money, identifying a business opportunity, techniques for planning, executing, and marketing a business. Students will experience business practices while working in the Ram Shack. Senior students will have the option for placement in one of Riverside High School’s on-campus businesses (printshop, screenprint or deli/gift store). Students can compete in SkillsUSA competitions.

This course focuses on personal finance, the application of mathematics and statistics to the finance industry, including the development, critique, and use of various financial models.
Topics include: Personal Financial Planning, Income, Budgeting and Wise Spending, Banking, Paying Taxes, Insurance, Long-term Investing, Buying a House, Consumer Loans, Consumer Credit, Economic Principles, Starting a Business, and Analyzing Business Data.
